Big Boy Haircut

Argus is peering about the horse trailer and the mysterious comings and goings of Ginger the sheltie, Ridge and Odie, the three who trailer out the most. This peep of day, as we left for a Small horse Club mounted encounter, he called wistfully to the deserted Odie as we rattled down the bumpy small pebbles driveway, following our movement forward by running by the side of the fence until he ran out of herbs. He stood and watched sorrowfully as we disappeared from contemplate.

Hours later, when we returned, the same train, but in reverse. Argus ended up fabrication his way from the farthest knee of Neighbor Jim's herbage back to the barn, where I had parked the trailer. He watched Odie disburden. It made me wonder what they speak about when a horse returns from a skip off the property. Does Odie show hospitality to the horses with tales of Sheltie Club rallies and horse shows? Does Extended elevation brag about his bulky dressage scores? Does Moiety Pint pierce them with tales of his 3+twenty-fourth part of a day trailer rides to the lameness specialist in Oakdale?

Today, I determined to take Argus to go to see the horse trailer ---- right to take a look-see. He blew suspiciously at it, and shook a tiny. I threw a hay bag onto the spring, encouraging him to eat and loosen. He spooked a bit at the hay bag (never seen one before) and peered interior the trailer. I patted him and chattered gone happily, effective him what a wonderful creature our trailer can be. We investigated the fasten compartment (scary), and Argus took a mild step on the spring (WAY scary), after which he took a big long breath and looked bored. That was our first trailering exercise.

Next, we tackled tying. For five months (that's how lengthy Argus has been here), I have been instruction Argus to guide, and to respond to halter crushing lightly. That's the cornerstone of lucky tying. Many seasons, we have "pretend" tied, me looping his guide rope loosely through a tie circle, and holding the straggle end, ready to let go if affright hits.
